I ate about 500 a day for a while - Now I do about 900. It's about self-control.

Try to figure out what you normally consume in calories and decrease it no more than 500/day for a week or two, then bring it down some more. You need to do this in steps and slowly so your body doesn't think it's starving - otherwise it will slow it's metabolism so you don't run out of food! This will cause you to burn less calories during normal activities and sleeping causing you to stay the same weight. If you take in less calories than you use you WILL lose weight! I like to stuff myself on Rice Crispies because I can stuff my face and not gain weight! You can eat about 5 FULL bowls of cereal with 2% milk instead of a SINGLE Whopper!

A rule of thumb you can use is this: How much do you want to weigh? Multiply that times 10, and that's how many calories you should be eating for that target weight.

And don't forget to exercise. You need to exercise to build up your metabolism, and do your exercise daily. Your exercise is as important as your diet. Find an exercise that raises your heart rate and keep it up for 30-60 minutes. One simple thing you can do is walking.. Walk briskly for 60 minutes a day and that will help.

And one final thing. When you are on a diet, do not think of it as something you will do for a month or two. We are talking lifestyle here. Your diet and exercise plan should stay with you forever!

In order to lose weight, you need to take in less than you burn in a day. Figure out what you burn during a day through your every day activites- walking, jogging, exercize, etc.

Then, figure out the amount of calories found in the food you eat, and make sure you are eating less than you are burning. Eating fresh fruits is good, because they are low in calories, but are filling. You will burn an apple off in a very short amount of time.

zero just don't eat, that is the minimum - this isn't a sensible amount of calories to eat but 0 is the minimum, a good healthy diet combined with excersise is better - it isnt about how many calories you take in it's more about how many you burn off

It depends on how much weight you have to lose, but i wouldnt recommend less than 1200 calories, and drink plenty of water, and sugar free drinks, not too many sodas!!

Not eating and having no calories a day should do it, but not in a sensible way.

However if you go on a proper low fat diet, then you shouldn't go below I think its 1200 calories

1300-1500, any less your body will think you are starving and will hold on to all the calories you take in, making you gain instead of loose weight.

believe it or not it all depends on you, my son lost 70lbs and 12 inches off his waist, but it wasn't an overnight process..sorry, the upside was he didnt have to stop eating the things he liked, just eat a little less, and no eating after 7pm, no sodas after 7pm just water, cereal or toast for breakfast, with a healthy sandwich for lunch. He could still have french fries occassionally or pizza, as long as his other meals were fresh cooked, and the thing about not eating late at night is, if you eat just before bed, you dont burn it off it just turns to fat, so in short, eat a little less, eat fresh and eat earlier.........good luck. ps cut down on bread, pastry and food sauces (ketchup and mayo etc.)
