Doctor's advise against rapid weight loss in children. It could cause them health problems later on in their teens as well as increase the chances of creating an eating disorder. Instead, you should limit the calories and increase fruits & vegies, increase exercise and allow their body to adjust. There is still growing left to do and most people are going to weigh more than 145 lbs. when fully mature. So, if you just maintain the weight, increase the metabolizm, the weight problem will not be a problem in a few years.

Go old school.
Get a pen and paper then write down your meals and snacks for a week.
Once you calculate the calories you consumed for a week then start a game plan.
1) Portion control. Eat the same items just less.
2) Have a stop time for eating. 7:00PM is a good time. This doesn't mean you can't have water or non-caffeine sugar free drinks.
3) Don't eat ice cream no matter what! It's a killer. Fat, sugar, calories and just bad for you.
4) After dinner walk for 30 minutes. My bet is that you don't exercise on a regular basis so don't push it start easy.
5) Eat fruit as a snack. Dried fruit is good as well.
6) Avoid fast food if possible.
7) Bring lunch to school. You'll be able to manage a healthy diet that way.
8) Determine specific meal times and keep with those times it manages your diet.
9) Oatmeal is king!! But you must eat the real kind not the pre-packaged sweet stuff.
10) Have a mentor or someone who can inspire you as well as join in on the plan.
I've lost 60 pounds in 3-4 months but it was very hard work and it requires alot of dedication. Start off easy and you'll see results.

I know what you mean when I was 12 I was 126-130 pounds(no lie). My advice is to you is to get a regular excercise plan like walk to the park or someplace with your friends every saturday and do other activities which will lead you to become more active. You should also try a portion control diet and make sure never to eat when you aren't hungry and stop when you're satsisfied. This helped me a lot. I personally limited carbs but that was a dieticians reccomandation because I was diagnosed as a diabetic at 13 but just portion control should work but you could try limiting carbs, fat, and fried foods, and french fries(god a medium at mcdonalds has more carbs than their chicken sandwhich). Hope I helped.

Children don't gain that kind of weight auto-magically. You're overweight due to bad habits and lack of education--probably caused by a toxic environment. What this means is that you are going to have to totally reshape your beliefs, your behaviors, and your environment.
My first recommendation: Join every sports club you can. Track, swimming, gymnastics, cheerleading. Anything that involves exercise and requires daily practice. I don't recommend team sports so much, because they involve a lot of sitting on the sidelines.
Stop eating junk food. Don't have desert. Don't eat candy. Don't drink soda. (Even diet soda is bad for you, because it's acidic and contains toxic chemicals. Artificial sweeteners can mess you up.)
If you want to enjoy your food, learn how to cook. Just eat better food. You don't need sugar and fat (or huge portions) to enjoy eating.
Get some sugar free candy or cough drops to suck on throughout the day, and always have a glass of water nearby. I started doing this when I stopped smoking, and it helps a lot with cravings. I'm sure it will also work for you.
I could write a book full of tips and advice, just off the top of my head--and you need a book. You need several books. Go find some, and read them. But don't buy weight loss books--you don't need weight loss. What you need is fitness. Don't be satisfied with losing weight--you'll just gain it back again. What you need is a total mental makeover.
Join those sports clubs, and don't quit.

You might not like this answer but.....
1st Tell your parents you want to lose weight.
Ask them to take you to the doctor and explain to him (her) what you want to do and why, and he will help you.
There is only one things you must do to lose weight. You must burn more calories than you take in. This is done by eating healthy and exercise. That's it there are no short cuts. You have your whole life ahead of you so get at it.

how tall are you darling? cause 145 is a perfectly normal weight for a tall girl after you have reached puberty. even if you havent, as you get older and taller you will thin out as long as you keep eating good and getting some exercise.
