Here's 2 recipes from foodnetwork.com that seem to be just a slight variation on the classic:

Here's some quotes from Wikipedia
"One variation is to use chocolate instead of marshmallows which is known as "Chocolate Crackles". Kellogg's has now produced commercial varieties of both the marshmallow and chocolate-based treats under the name of "Rice Krispies Squares". There is also another variation in which caramel is used instead of the marshmallows to keep the krispies together. A third variation is to add condensed milk to the marshmallows and then add rice crispies. A fourth variation is to use corn syrup and peanut butter."

Butterfingers (a family tradition we have to have every Christmas)

1. Stir in a pan over low heat until sugar dissolves: 1 cup sugar, 1 cup cream peanut butter, and 1 cup light Karo syrup.

2. Add 6 cups Rice Krispies.

3. Stir. Let cool for about an hour. Then shape into small 2-3 inch finger shapes.

4. Melt a 12 oz. bag of chocolate chips (Nestles) with half of a block of parafin wax in the top of a double boiler.

5. Insert a stick in one of the fingers. Dip into the melted chocolate. Lay on wax paper until cooled. Repeat with all of the fingers.

These are yummy. They can be frozen in advance.

Maybe you can press them into Thanksgiving-type molds, colored with red/green food coloring.
Here's a variation of the recipe for your collection...

"Cocoa Rice Cereal Treats" - 24 squares

Nonstick cooking spray
1/4 cup (1/2 stick) butter
1 (10 oz.) bag marshmallows
1/2 cup creamy peanut butter
1 tsp. vanilla extract
6 cups toasted cocoa-flavored rice cereal

Line 13x9x2" baking pan with foil, extending foil 2" beyond each short side; coat with cooking spray. In 6-quart pot, melt butter over low heat; stir in marshmallows until almost melted. Stir in peanut butter and vanilla until blended and smooth. Stir in cereal until evenly coated. Press marshmallow mixture into pan; let cool and cut into 24 squares. Store up to 1 week in an airtight container.

not sure for Thanksgiving but I fix them for Christmas and buy the little tubs of green and red sugar crystals and sprinkle over them before they cool. They are always a great hit with kids

Funny you should ask, I happen to have a batch freshly made in the kitchen...! *grin*

Mine are pretty standard, but I frosted them with chocolate frosting. (We're LDS, and my husband maintains that this is the traditonal mormon way!)

Try using cocoa crispies or adding chocolate chips in the mixture, peanut butter chips..ect...anything basically goes! Happy Thanksgiving!

First butter a frying pan and melt marshmallows in ti, then you get a box of rice crispys and mix them in a bowl with your melted marshmallows and butter, then you put them in a baking dish type thing and put them in the fridge to cool! Hope this helps!

I chop up pecans and add them to them. I also melt chocolate chips and 'ice' them before cutting them up.
