Would you consider diapering for a long road trip? If so, how would you explain it to the kids (They aren't teens yet). It helps save on time, and all the extra stops that would have to be made?

I remember we did this back in the 80's when our family went on long road trips.

I'm asking because we're going to be driving through really rural parts of New Mexico, Texas, and Arizona and some parts don't have a rest stop for over an hour and a half.

Is diapering a good idea? They wet sometimes, though it's maybe once every few monthes, if that. Also if they have to make poo, it could help?

It's for the KIDS, not me.

I wouldn't do that. I'm sure it took a lot of work potty training and you may ruin it by letting them wear diapers again. I would just make them go to the bathroom frequently, so when there isn't a rest stop, they have already gone.

For what you would spend on diapers you could purchase a porta potty. Let the kids go on it then dump it at the next rest stop

I would think it would be very degrading for a child to be put in a diaper, not to mention very uncomfortable.
When we were kids if we had to go , dad simply pulled over and we found a tree to go behind.
But really an hour and a half is not that big a wait, just stop at every rest stop

Ummm I guess I would do it the other old fashioned way... Use a rest stop... Of if there aren't any....You stop the car and go next to the tree. If there are no trees you hold a towel around the child. Then you are off on your way. Don't forget some wet wipes or tp.

I wouldn't do this at all. I would make regular, scheduled stops at rest areas and tell them to try to go. It may avoid accidents if you suggest going as opposed to just NOT stopping because you are in a hurry. They have to learn sometime. Id just make sure extra clothes were available. I would also keep a roll of paper towels handy..oh-and try not to leave your sense of humor at home. Travel can be just as stressful for kids as it is for parents.

Sure...if you want to send mixed signals that it's OK to sit in your own filth.
If you want to start potty training all over again.

BAD BAD BAD idea.
