That's the stuff that happens when the chocolate starts to go bad. It's the milk bacteria that begins to come through the pores of the chocolate.

This will sound silly, but the last place that sells speciality candy bars is the dollar tree. They buy out close out stuff and the candy is probably discountinued. Also try to look for it in the bagged candy section. You might have to buy a whole bag of it or a mixed bag, they tend to stay around a bit longer (example the absoultely wonderful dark chocolate kit kats with the regular kit kats and the white chocolate kit kats)

Sometimes when chocolate is stored too cold for too long the cocoa starts breaking down and it is white. It won't hurt to eat it, but it probably won't taste as fresh as it once would. But if you're having a chocolate crisis...it'll do!!

It is the result of a process that happens to the oil in the chocolate when it gets OLD. If you are cooking with it...no harm. But if you eat it you will find it is stale chocolate.

When the chocolate is exposed to temperatures, other than the optimal storage temperature, the cocoa rises to the top of the candy and appears white.

GOD, Please DONT TAKE ANY NOTICE OF WHAT THEY SAY !!!!!

Its simply Oxidisation that occurs after a period of time, or if the chocolate has been stored incorrectly, it does not mean the chocolate is bad or off, doesnt really affect the taste, and wont harm you. In other words it is completely safe to eat, cook with etc.

Its Cocoa butter. Happens when it was exposed to warm weather. It doesnt affect anything other than appearance. It tastes just the same. Eat it and enjoy it. No worries.

It comes when the chocolate is older, or exposed to extreme temperaturea.
Contrary to what anyone else said ----it is HARMLESS!

it could mean that the chocolate has been hot, and then cold again. also it could be that it is old or that it is made from low quality ingredients.
