can the state of the arts, scientist, and other technologist make lightsabers? if they did, who would they give all the lightsaber to? the cops? or U.S army? i say both.

actually they would not serve much of a purpose, since they are a deadly force, and not much of a weapon against uzi and rocket launchers,
So an officer could only pull it instead of his gun, and it would put him at a disadvantage.
And the power sourse would just not be possible at this time, you owuld have to have it pluged into a veyr high power to produce the energy if the scence was even available.

First off, yes they require the crystals, the crystals are like the personality of the lightsaber!
Secondly, if they were used in modern warfare, they'd suck! No one has mastered the force and if you tried slicing up the taliban all they would do is shoot your body faster then Sonny from The Godfather

It is fiction. It ain't happening now or in the forseeable future. What is next broadswords and cross bows? Why would someone fight a battle with a light saber when they could just get an Uzi and be the automatic winner?
