On Thursday, I told my friend (we'll call her Lauren) about how I've liked the same boy i've liked for two years now (we'll call him Matt). Lauren told me that she works at a gym where Matt always goes, and that she sometimes talks to him. She told me that as a "homework assignment", I should stop being all weird and awkward around him, and send him an IM and talk to him online. Then, Lauren told me to print her the chat as proof. She said that after that, we'll move on to step 2- and that she would try her best to get us to go out. Should I trust Lauren? She's one of those really outgoing & popular girls. I really care about Matt and I miss him to death. He goes to another high school and I dont see him at all anymore. I dont want to get hurt. I know this is all so third grade, but do you think I can trust Lauren and her "plan", and do you think she can really get Matt and I to go out? Please give me your honest opinion. Thanks.

Yeah thats a tough one. There are really only two options here:

1) Lauren is a true friend just trying to help you, and will do her best to convince Matt to go out with you (and it might work too)
2) Lauren isn't really your true friend, and she's just looking to embarrass you or something (be careful with the chat... if this option is true, she could pass it around school)

Either way, just be careful, be yourself, and trust your instincts. Good Luck :)

If you're not sure about Lauren, then just contact Matt yourself and go from there.

What's the worst that can happen? Maybe he says sorry, he's dating someone else? Thank you, but you're not my type? Maybe... but what if he says he likes you, and wants to go out with you? You'll never know unless you ask him.

You don't need anyone else's help to do that. Yeah, maybe it's scary, but usually the downside is never as bad as people make it out to be. Try it - you might surprise yourself with how easy it was!

Well, if i was you i would speak for myself and make the move myself. i know you say Lauren is your friend but if you made the statement should you trust her, its evident that you don't trust her completely yourself. So make the move and don't let anyone else do something you want to do. That way you wont get hurt by a 3rd party.

hey first don't let your friend be your go between. if you and matt
already know eachother and ya'll were friends then call him up and
say hey whats up. havent seen you in a while ect.... hey plan a
party it's getting close to thanksgiving/ christmas perfect time for a party. and invite him. If you have to question or say what if ect..
that means your hind sights are kicking in trust the warning signs that are going off.
