i want to buy a car, my first car, it can't be too expensive, its gotta be less then $5,000. i want to buy an RX-7(my favorite car btw), and i've been told that it would be better to buy a subaru(i'm thinking impreza) because the engines are easier to maintain then the RX-7, and then when u calculate a subaru u always have to add in mitsubishi, and if so i want an evo, but i dont know what older evo's they sell here in the US, specifically Cali, that are under 5 grand. so if i can get any help here, just remember the qualities i want:
-under $5000
-performance
-handling
-economy, i know its impossible for an RX-7 to have the economy of a civic, but remember i hate civics, so which of the three if available to me have the best fuel economy?.
thanks for helping me choose
well thats about it well i want to know what others think i should buy

First of all you got to buy a used car but don't buy a really old one. Cheap cars that are slightly used and not old are not American cars. Maybe you should consider looking into a used Kia. The Kia brand car is very cheap when used and may last you easily 5 years if you buy the right one. Subaru is a company that I would not look into but there is anything wrong with Subaru but I feel maybe they need more experience. Mitsubishi may be a company to look into. You see a lot of them on the roads. Mitsubishi has older cars on the road that run fine.

Go for what you think is best and that will be the right decision. If you want fuel economy stats you should look on the internet. Did you consider Toyota? Their cars have been around for a while and are somewhat decent.

I vote for Impreza. But it is a matter of taste. They are all good choices with the exception of the RX-7 for the same reasons you pointed out.

Don't get a used Dodge. A Nissan or Mazda would be best for you. Mitsubishi is lesser than those brands...
