first go to www.annualcreditreport.com to get your free credit report from all three bureaus. Upon receipt of it. If there's anything that need to be disputed, do so. Make arrangements with all creditors that you owe. Start working on them diligently until they are all paid. Don't apply for anything during the process. Make sure prior to starting this that all your bills are and continue to be current. If not, your beginning this will defeat the purpose. If you opt to use asst. you can go to www.lexintgonlawresolution.com and choose to allow them to do it for you. They are excellent. I send many of my real estate clients to them and they are debt free in a matter of 3-6 mos. depending on your circumstance, will determine your time frame. you can pay as low as $60 a mo. once your credit is up to par to your standards you can cancel. I wish you well.

If it gets repaired it will be you. Those so called credit repair companies are from outright scams to clever scamers acting as credit specialist. Your payments go to them and they get their cut first which actually leaves the credit card company(or other creditors) even less, your interest./penalities more. Often they will not even pay any to the credit card company knowing some people will only pay a short time and stop.

It's best to call your creditors i(f you cannot arrange a one itme loan to pay everyone at once) and make arrangements to gradually pay them. explain (be honest) your financial condition, and your plans , such as who to pay and how much. They have ot take so much abd give you credit but so many lawyers are involved that it's hard to clear credit payin only small amounts.

Pay your bills.

Be on time for all bills. Pay credit cards off earlier - don't make just the minimum payment.

Don't use all your available credit. If your credit limit on a card is $5000, don't have more than $2500 charged to it.

Don't have many credit accounts open. Seven different credit cards, all with decent balances on them, suggests that you're in over your head. Instead, have just 1-2 cards, and keep the balances low or paid off.

Buy a copy of your credit report and review it. Write a letter to the agencies and dispute anything that is wrong, but take responsibility for anything there that you incurred yourself.

Usually after 7 years, bad debts will fall off of your credit report. If you have a bankruptcy it will be 10 years. (key thing, it is 7 or 10 years from the last activity on that particular acct.) If you pay partial payments you are stringing them along and it'll be longer. Depending on what you have on your credit against you, maybe you can start with a small charge acct. from a local store and build from that. Perhaps go to the bank and tell them you want a loan and will back it with money put in a savings acct. In this way they are assured their money and yet they will report your prompt payments to the credit bureaus.
It won't happen overnight, but eventually if you have no more bad debt. it will get better on it's own.
Hope that helped.
