They taste different now because both Coke and Pepsi are using cheaper high fructose corn syrup instead of real sugar.

Coke tastes stronger carbonated.
Pepsi is definately sweeter.

The original products ( Coca-Cola and Pepsi-Cola ) contained at least 2 ingredients that are not found in today's product. One was cocaine and the other was cane sugar.
Cocaine was banned by the government in the earlier years of the 20th century and cane sugar was replaced by fructose when cheap Cuban cane sugar was stopped from entering the USA during the 1960's. Of all the cola drinks made by anyone the closest to the beverage of the 20's through the 60's is 'Diet Coke with "Splenda"'.

Absolutely a difference.

I even did one of those "taste tests" once and chose my fav, Coke!

To me, Pepsi tastes sweeter, in a sickening sort of way...I can always tell. I hate it when I order a Coke at a restaurant and they bring me a Pepsi, like it's the same. I always notice and request a different soft drink or water. So now I try to always specify,
"Coca-cola....NOT Pepsi."

I suppose it depends on different taste bud sensitivity. As for me, make mine a "Coca-cola...NOT Pepsi."

They taste very different, at least to me. If you ever get a chance to go to Disney World in Orlando, FL - go to EPCOT. They have free samples of Coke around the World. Its really cool! I've tried Coke from Japan, China, Israel, Egypt, and a few others. And its free!

There is a difference but I don't prefer one over another. I guess if I was given a choice, I'd choose Pepsi.
