Nope, if the vet didn't see mites it is not ear mites.
The funky smell is very likely caused by yeast. Overgrowth of yeast in the ears is very common in both dogs and cats. Keep up with the treatment and the ear(s) should be better soon. Sometimes it takes a while to really cure the yeast infection though so don't give up! I know some cats (like one of mine!) can be really hard to do anything to, especially putting liquid in their ears! But it is worth it in the long run. The gunk in the kitty's ears makes his ears itchy and uncomfortable so getting it out will really be a relief.
Good for you for taking your cat to the vet and treating it properly!

Your cats ears just have a lot of wax buildup. My older cat has the same problem. I just keep them clean with some ear drops i got from my vet. You just drop the liquid in and squish it around in their ear and it suds up and then you clean them out with a q-tip. Ask your vet about it.
She is happier and there is no more smell.

My cat had a problem with that. It was ear mites. We had to go thru 2 bottles over a few weeks, but they did clear up.

Sorry but yes it is Ear mites, you may not see them because they are deep inside the ear canal. I would get that checked out as soon as possible. It can cause brain damage! Take your pussy to the Vet or get some ear drops.
