you can't do anything...if I see someone fall, trip, get hit in the face etc by accident I crack up laughing, it's worse when people give me dirty looks, I do it more, there's no hope for us I'm afraid!!!!( I'm a nurse too!!)

Goodness, I thought I was the only one in the world that does that.
I do not know why, however I do not have control of it either.
Tell your boyfriend, like you just did here, or show my answer.
We really are not laughing at them, it is the situtation...that makes us laugh.
This one is a bad one....my son, fell down the stairs, after I had waxed the floor, and stairs.......4 stairs....without putting the runny on......I heard him go click, bamp, bump........it was 17 then...now 34. I just starting laughing so hard, ( yes, you are correct, it could have been serious) however, I knew his
voice of real help or pain......
He marched into the kitchen, and said "Mom.....I could have really hurt myself, why are you laughing? Why did'nt you come see what happened to me? I still could not stop laughing.......I told him, it was his voice and saying... etc, etc.sh...etc.....(no curse words) and no call for HELP.....
To this day we laugh about it...if younger, 100 per cent I would have been there.( by the way he is 6"2')
My husband and I, when we first got married, saw him showering alone,
pulled the curtain.....I said, goodness, what happened to you pecker?
He said it was shy, and decided not to show itself.....Goodness, I laughed again...he went along with it.
Sometimes if becomes embarassing.........I meet Buz Aldrin, he was seating next to me....and I asked him, "Is it dark up there", He said yes.....and I started laughing......I do not know why, I was really asking a question...
( no drinking no nothing, just a blond)
Then I met Rodney Dangerfield....again, sitting next to me....table of eight...
" I asked him, are you from the local area, to make conversation,
My husband, hit me in a leg gently, to shut up..so he just looked at me, and said a "Joke" about this woman falling down, when her floor caved in.....
and I asked " was she seriously injured".
well, not knowing him,....what are you going to do....
When I found out that he was on TV and movies...., it's cute....He started out with what I had asked him...." Are you from the local area".
I do not follow all the movie stars and jokes......
So sorry I took up alot of your time.....be natural....I have not changed.
Laughter sometimes is a gift, that others do not have...we have both!!!!
for good times and bad times.
Laughter is the best medicine in the world.

Ahaaaa, this is a sure sign of Griebaturism, very rare, but I have come upon it before, not here in England but while touring the Keys in Florida, one of the islands is called Marathon, there they have a family who are called the Griebats, this family have been inbreeding for close to three centuries, in some severe cases namely one in France shortly after the first world war, they hung Herbert Montaray Griebats, thinking him a monkey, sounds crazy I know. The condition of Griebaturism manifests itself by way of covering either parts or in rare cases all of the body with excess hair. I would suggest not considering building a family as the horror of bearing a chimp like child to be too much to bear. Lots of luck to you

I'm not sure how much you can do about it. For starters I'd suggest trying to change what you're thinking about when you start laughing. Also, if you feel like you're going to laugh, and there's no need to talk at that moment, try clenching your teeth together, it's actually an effective way to keep a straight face when necessary. Other than that you may or may not be able to do anything.

I'm not sure how to help but I've laughed at inappropriate times too. My friend was explaining why she missed out on an activity that she was supposed to attend but she couldn't because her grandmother had died, but I forgot about that and laughed at her dancing around those words. I felt pretty bad afterwards.
I guess you just have to appologize and say that you weren't trying to be mean.

Hey I have the same issue. I am ina fairly serious job where I have to deliver bad news daily. I have calmed it down to a grin and some of the managers have issues but they get over it. You will learn how to control it.

Try to control it by thinking of something you dont find funny - maybe its a nervous type thing. My neighbour gets the same thing and recently she was actually thrown out of her friends house because her friends mum arrived and was explaining how sad she was when her husband recently died and my neighbour was crying with laughter.

It sounds like your laughing because of a nerious reaction. Try and keep calm, breathe slowly and relax.
Doing an assertiveness course might help

dont worry we all laugh at diffrent times.sometimes we as in people even laugh when there is a death or are nervous. it is not because you are trying to be rude you are just one of a few million people who laugh instead of cry or gasp at things.so dont feel bad at it alot of people do it.
