My sister and one of my friends both have beagles. One of my sisters beagles and my friend one both had problems with their thyroid. They have to be on medication. I would just check with a vet to see if that is the problem. Thyroid problems are typical with beagles. Good luck... I hope this helped.

There is a reason that beagles are called "chow hounds" it is the owners responsibility to monitor their intake.
It is necessary that changes in weight be done slowly. If you try to do it quickly you will end up with one sickly puppy.
The normal Beagle will eat between 1.5 and 2 cups of a premium food a day. (Purina one or better) This amount should not be changed by more than a quarter cup at a time.

Don't feed her people food. Some people do as a treat- or they think it's a treat but before they know it they've given the dog half a block of cheese for instance.
Find a good high-quality dog food and feed her only a certain ammount every day, no matter how much she begs. And she will beg: I've seen that before.
Take her for walks. When she starts slimming down, you can run her a little.
Good luck!

Just like a human.
Exercise and a good diet.
There are tons of diet foods out there for dogs. But I would recommend your vet's office for good diet food.
Take your dog on walks. For half an hour at first and then move up in time. I find that walking my dog helps me to clear my head and I can think with no interruptions.
Good luck.

What do you feed your beagle? Science Diet is a good food and they sell it in light food and should probably only have one cup of food a day or less the bag will have instructions and no treats or human food if you must give treats Vet-Select sells no fat treats and there is a treat called Pup-corn that is also fat free come in cheese and beef flavor. Good Luck

Very difficult for a beagle because they're all nose & appetite.
No snacks - try bulking out the food with grated carrot - plenty of exercise. The vet can also sell you specially prepared weight-loss food for dogs.

Our dog used to be really fat (we feed him to much human food :D) so we bought diet pet food called Pet Pride (or something like that. It was in a green bag) and he's lost a lot of weight. You can tell how much better he feels. We still feed him human food and the diet dog food and he's kept off the weight.

Start her on Hill's r/d diet from the vet and once she is at the right weight put her on Hill's w/d. 45 mins power walks twice a day. Veggies or ice cubes as treats.

I have the same problem with my dog, we walk around 4 miles a day together and we are both "fashionably chunky.", but getting better. Talk to your vet about an exercise program and a diet, according to the necessities of your dog.

yes she can loose weight safely. speak to your vet first and they will weigh her and choose the correct food and quantity she should be getting. stick to this and dont give table scraps or treats. exercise is important but only short walks to begin with otherwise to much will damage her health even more. stick to the correct advice from your vet and the she ll eventually become her normal weight again.
