You can do and see a lot more things in New York City that you can't do in Venice Beach than you can do in Venice Beach that you can't do in New York City.

There's no comparison: NYC is WAY better than Venice Beach. And I live in So Calif!

Venice is awesome. Beautiful weather and a fun town. You can live in your flip flops and no one cares! It's almost as expensive as NYC but there is tons of jobs in LA so you can support yourself pretty easily. Only drawback is no good public transportation. You'd have to have a car.
