I hope you dont fight any battles against any religion. You can ask this question yourself because each one of us follows own religion. Even if you are an atheist you belive there is no God it is still your religion and you think you are the one who is right. Then you try to convert people to your atheistic religion. As you can see you can find the answer within yourself.
Of course atheism is a religion. Religion is a system of beliefs and you belive there is no God. More sufisticated atheists also quote their favorite philosophers. More simple atheists do not quote anything because they are too thick to read books. There is no difference. Atheism is a religion - "system of beliefs"

For the majority of religions, belief in God or a creator is the first natural requirement. For the creator to communicate with the creation, there is usually some form of communication through messengers that is usually given in "revealed" books and examples.
The complete revelations from the creator are not easily written in the space in the answers section and so it is necessary to refer to some portion of the revalation. This is also the scientific method when it comes to listing references for technical or scientific "papers" - without references, scientific discourse would not exist.
If someone does not believe in a creator then he or she usually makes up the rules "on the fly" so there are usually no references to other previous thinkers.
This is not always the case as people like Karl Marx, Darwin etc also wrote their thoughts and without listing a reference, it is not easy to state exactly all of their arguments.

It is a matter of intrepretation. Religious texts where written thousands of years ago and, even then. they were anecdotal recollections. The language was different and, therefore, these days open to misinterpretation. Religion is used as an excuse for many things because people can hide behind that rather than take responsibilty for their own actions. In some ways it is a 'sheep' like mentality.

I think it is easy to justify anything you want to do through religious texts, but I think that is wrong and against the spirit of the religion.
"As soon as we lose the moral basis, we cease to be religious. There is no such thing as religion over-riding morality. Man, for instance, cannot be untruthful, cruel or incontinent and claim to have God on his side." - Ghandi
I agree with Ghandi on this. I think a person has to to follow the spirit not only the letter of a religion.

through fact they have not got the heart to take own duty for what they're asserting. that is an identical factor with anti-gay Christians who quote the Bible against gay human beings. they say regardless of terrible, merciless factor they want and once you get indignant, they respond, "Oh i'm not asserting it, that is God who's asserting it." What a cop out! the factor approximately utilising the Bible to demean women human beings that's the main stressful is the hypocrisy. there are various of issues interior the Bible that folk ignore approximately or forget, yet while it contains women human beings, they %. and choose regardless of they might to justify what they already have faith of their hearts. in case you will use the Bible to maintain women human beings down, then you definately might desire to stay with all the prohibitions and regulations in there, to illustrate, "If absolutely everyone curses his parent, he might desire to be positioned to dying. He has cursed his father or his mom, and his blood would be on his very own head." (Leviticus 20:9) in case you declare to take the Bible actually, you're able to desire to take all of it actually. you are able to not %. and choose, yet deny determining on and determining on, jointly as condemning all and sundry else for determining on and determining on. This makes the guy a hypocrite and it makes all Christians look undesirable. If on the different hand, the guy can understand why specific regulations at the instant are no further observed and admit it, then they might additionally forget the climate that say women human beings might desire to be subservient. they might desire to try this besides, through fact on the instant, women persons are equivalent and need to be dealt with the two.

i seen your comment on my question that said i was hiding behind links...
i did not understand how providing a link to something that i suggested may be the answer is in any way hiding
it is backing up what i believe ... otherwise how am i to prove what i am saying ?
i think people would find it less convincing and think i talk rubbish if i only gave my own opinion on a scientific FACT whilst providing no link

Same reason scientist come and make stuff up then they all agree together on something and say you are stupid if you don't believe them. Apes, soups and cosmic crashes. What next? Aliens or robots? Anything but an invisible being, and an old book right?
