The only fair comparison between the two is the price of rents. In Manhattan you are talking about $2000 a month for a whole in the wall. In Venice Beach you will also pay $2000 a month for a whole in the wall. If you want culture, public transit, and rats then NYC is for you. If you like sun, beaches, and freaks then Venice Beach is for you/
