According to Scriptures, God cannot destroy the world by water because of His pronise to Noah Gen. 9:15. But II Pet. 3:12 says, "Looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be dissolved, being on fire, and the elements will melt with fervent heat." In answer to your question - fire.
