The first two answers cover the possibilities.
If it is just a nipple sticking out the extractor from the second answer will do it. You need one that is fat enough to jam inside your pipe nipple and then turn it CCW. Put a wrench on the rest of the pipe (not the nipple) to keep it from twisting and collapsing also.
If it is galvanized pipe as part of a whole piece that is there in place, the first answer was perfectly correct for that situation.

If I know what you mean(not sure), that nipple(which I think you mean CAP) can come off.. spray it well.. with WD-40 and use a PIPE WRENCH ONLY on it.. I am sure it will come off with the method used above... NOW.. If it is PVC, you would be better off cutting it off and replacing it with an adaptor or coupling using that blue sealer... The problem is that I just do not know what you are trying to do

If you any thread left on nipple srew a fitting on to it so it does not warp, apply wrench as before and loosen. It is good practice to tap the fitting theb nipple is in all about to shock the threads.

you can get a tool that will "bite" into the nipple, then remove it safely. check your local hardware store.
