Pregnancy in cats lasts about nine weeks, but during the first half of that time a typical expectant cat gives few clues that she is pregnant. She hunts, rests, and generally behaves normally.

Under the influence of progesterone, the hormone of pregnancy, and with an ever increasing weight in her abdomen, she soon moderates her behavior, gradually reducing her activity level and resting more.If you think your cat might be pregnant, the first check her nipples. These become more prominent and pinker by three weeks of gestation. By four to five weeks after conception, your vet will be able to feel golf-ball sized swellings in her abdomen. At this time the developing fetuses are usually quite easy to count. Shortly afterward, her belly becomes a visibly enlarged.Cats do not become visibly pregnant until after about five weeks. Shortly before this time, your vet will be able to tell you how large the litter will be.A few days before birth, a pregnant cat will begin looking for a good nest, which she will scent-mark. This will help her newborns recognize home.

hope this helped, lena

you can't always tell. I have had many cats; sometimes you cant tell until you come home one day and MAGIC kittens. Other times it is obvious. I did have one though, who we thought was pregnant and wasn't really. It turned out to be a tumor or something which killed her. If I were you, I would try and scrape up enough money to get her to the vet just to make sure, or take her to a cheap place that will simply tell you whether she is pregnant or not. However, kittens are great fun!

her nipples will go pink at about 3 weeks pregnant , you should be able too see & feel the kittens moving by 7 weeks. you need to keep her in until she is nuetered because she could be calling again within a couple of weeks of giving birth & another litter so soon could kill her & the kitts would be small and weak .if your in the uk phone cats protection they will give you a voucher towards neutering her & phone a few vets theres a big differance in prices . also if she is pregnant start looking for homes asap & make sure the new owners are suitable

Well, you really can't except she will start getting a soft bulgy belly. They are only preg for 3 months so give her some time and you will be able to find out. She will start 'nesting' in her late 2nd month. Finding a nice safe cozy place to have her kittens. There is nothing you can do as far as diet or anything, just relax and wait. Unless you don't want her to be preg, in which case you need to go to the vet anyway. She will be fine, let nature take its coarse, literally.

Give your cat paper under your bed, if she starts ripping it up it means she's starting a nest. Also she'll eat more and her nipples will be bigger, you can usually see that. That's the only advice I can give you other than calling an Animal love foundation or PETA. You can find them on the net at HelpingAnimals.com thats the website on their pamphlets Theyre' full name is People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals Phone number is 757-622-7382

Why do people have cats when they can't afford to take them to the vet for neutering or even when they're desperately sick? There's enough unwanted kittens and cats out there without irresponsible owners adding more to the problem. If you care for your cat you will make sacrifices elsewhere and save money to ensure she gets the veterinary treatment she needs. Sorry if I sound harsh but this type of thing p*sses me off.

I don't know the signs, but it is important to take her to the vet. Check with the local animal shelters in your area, they tend to offer reasonable prices for their clinics.

Also, you should look into getting her fixed. There are enough kittens out there. Good luck though.

Why did you get a cat that you cannot afford?????? Maybe call a shelter and see if they can spay the cat for free. One of the things the world does not need is more kittens.

Just make sure she has enough food. If she is with kitten you will notice in a month at the most.
