I wonder when you are on your death bed will you think so highly of social restrictions, marriage, kids, your name, your job. I think, in all liklihood, you will be asking yourself what has your life been for. If your needs are being ignored then you are living a lie. You are acting out the role people expect of you.....It's a facade, its not real.

People have different ideas of what success is, and yours success seems to stem from the role you play. Is it fair to your spouse, is it fair to your children? What are they learning from life.....to give unselfishly unto others at the expense of yourself? I dont think thats a very healthy life lesson to give anyone.

Yes, age catches up to all of us, and I am wondering how old you are going to get before you ask yourself, how much longer can you live this kind of life. You can be a Martye and die unfullfilled, or you can take a chance and start living life the way that makes you happy. Nothing, no social status, no marriage, no kids, no money will fullfill anyone if you are miserable. Look at some celebrities, they have all of that, but they dont have happiness. How many "successful" people end up committing suicide? Heaps. If only they had the strength to find their ultimate happiness instead of hanging onto the "role" expected of them.

The only restrictions are the ones we place on ourselves. We are the Master of Our Own Destiny, and it is only when you start believing that will you start believing that we all deserve to be happy. When you were born you were not stamped with the EXEMPT FROM BEING HAPPY stamp. A series of events have led you to where you are now. If you are not happy, if you are miserable, then the only person stopping you from being happy is you. You have the personal power to change your life. People do not own you. You are an individual. Your needs are just as important as anyone else around you. But whilever you consider everyone elses feelings, then you are going to die a very unhappy person indeed. You are young enough to change your life. When you are 80, you probably wont have the strength to change, you probably may not even be alive then...you may die of a broken heart.

You do have it within yourself to change your situation. Go and have a talk to a really good friend. One who sees you as a person, not as the "role" you project. Good luck....I hope you find your happiness.

I believe the question is what do we do when we cant' have true love right? Well personally I don't have that problem but in the case that I did I read Harlequinn books, maybe catch some ole black and whites on the boob tube, they're filled with the myths of true love. I avoid the soap opera's check out Maury on occassions just to keep the reality of it all in check. Gotta have some balance you know. What do men do? Or do I really need to ask?

Who says true love is necessary? It certainly isn't for me. What I want from life is a successful career, a nice home, a great crowd of friends, my current family (parents and little brother), and occasional sex. Love is just a distraction from all of that.

I live in faith that my life partner is on his way and enjoy every day as it happens.

No really, I keep myself so busy that I don't realise that I'm alone, it's only when I'm not busy I dwell on the stuff you mentioned.. :o(
