My mother's cat is very mean. She jumps out at you and scratches and bites as you walk past her. Now my son thinks all cats are mean. Are there any friendly cats I can get him so he won't grow up to hate cats?

My son does not abuse the cat. Besides eventhat would not explain why it attacks all members of the family.

I was really wanting to know the breed of the most social cats.

I believe that cats form their personalities from their experience. If you are kind and loving to a cat - they return the favor.
But if you roughhose with it, intentionally or not, it will mean right back at you.

Many loving cats in this world! Mean cats are usually not socialized well and thus, do not know how to react to strangers or people they don't see on a daily basis. Animal shelters are filled with lonely cats who would love to have a home, they have a lot of love to share with you and your son.

Yeah. If you get a kitten and raise it in your home from the time it's really young then it will be domesticated and friendly, or will be more likely to be. Or you could get an older domesticated cat. You should go to a shelter or petfinder.com and they'll tell you if the cat is good with kids. Good luck!

sometimes when i turn right after walking out of my house, i walk past a house that has a very, very nice orange cat that lets me pet it whenever i pass, usually if im walking to Family Video of McDonalds

And my Grandma also has a Orange/white cat who is very friendly

The two cats at the house i have are very nice, which is all im saying about my cats

the only time you would meet a mean cat is when the owner treats cats badly, which isnt right......

There are very few mean cats, if you go to an animal shelter I am sure you can find a great little kitten that will be very loving
One thing that makes them nicer is make sure you get it spayed or neutered because that can make a cat be very mean if it hasn't been spayed

I'm sorry you have experience with an aggressive territorial cat. Most cats are very loving animals.
Think of this cat as the pit bull of cats! Most aren't like that!

From my adventure, residences are neither canines or cat friendly. in many cases the residences are extra worried related to the dimensions of the puppy and the style of pets particularly than the style of puppy. And sorry, yet cats do lots. They pee and poop places besides as scratch carpet. they are the two as unfavourable as canines. i be conscious of, because of the fact I even have cat's and canines. while this final cat is long gone, I isn't getting yet another one.

Yes get a cat when he or she is a kitten. Do you have friend who has a kitten? If so they usually are nice. Hope this helps. My neighbor has a mean cat also but my sister has nice cats.

I would get a kitten and get a male. Females tend to be more "intolerant" as they get older. Males are just along for the ride and love everyone. Start with a kitten and treat it well and you should not have a problem.
