If they go for each other's neck, while snarling. And there is blood all over the place, then they do not like each other.

You should introduce dogs carefully to see if they get along.

I have a 1yo female Jack Russell/Westie mix and when I wanted to get her a friend I took her with me to the animal shelter.

I picked out a couple dogs I thought she might get along with, and here's how we were introduced:

1. Keep both dogs on a lead!
2. Introduce the dogs on neutral ground - a park or a yard that does not belong to either dog.
3. Introduce the dogs through a fence - one dog on either side of the fence. If one dog is acting aggressively, the visit is over. If they act nice on opposite sides of the fence, move on to step 4.
4. Allow both dogs, still on lead, into the same area. Allow them to sniff each other nicely. Again, if there is aggression from either dog, the visit is over.
5. Once the dogs are getting along well in the same area, and ONLY if you are sure that neither dog is showing ANY aggression and ONLY if one dog is trained to listen to you on command, you may let the dogs off lead and watch their interaction.

One nice visit does not a sister/brotherhood make. You must never let them loose without constantly keeping your eye on them.

Inter-female fights are the worst. Be very careful and understand how to break up a dog fight before you even try this. You can read all about it here:

p.s. Our first introduction with a male chi was not successful. He was fine through the fence, but way too active/aggressive/annoying on lead in a common yard. Our second introduction was a success with a 3yo female chi.

I've had to do this before. One of my dogs is a 4 year old St. Bernard, and the other is a little Miniature American Eskimo. The little guy is 4 MONTHS old. At first, they basically hated each other, and the older one would growl and ignore him. But, after about 2 weeks, they became the BEST OF FRIENDS! lol I'm serious, they play together and everything!

It just takes time. And don't force them, they have to do it on their own. Good luck!

I've had to do this several times. Sometimes the older dog will take the new one as a trespasser, but in a couple of days they were mother and baby.

save your staffie on a leash and have a muzzle on her, once you're somewhat apprehensive. save the creation short, and then watch for a rapid time, and then introduce them lower back. in the adventure that your 2 365 days previous is definitely territorial, introduce them outdoors, and paintings your way in. i'm specific that by making use of the time a pair months bypass by making use of, your new puppy could have located her dominance on your staffie. keep in mind, leash and muzzle.

I think they will both wag their tails. Even while barking at each other.
