there are a number of cleaners made especially to clean a violin with. You could clean with a cleaner and polish. Also , they sell soft cloths, some are treated for musical instruments

First, see actually how old that violin is! The cleaning of old wood can be very simple to very complicated depending on how we want to preserve this wood!
