I'm lactose intolerant... acquired it from my dad.

My local grocer didn't have any Lactaid... my options were Fat Free and Whole... so I chose Whole milk... I have about 2 cups of Lactaid in the fridge. Can I mix some of the whole milk with the Lactaid since it has lactase in it (which helps digest lactose)? I don't want the milk to curdle or anything lol.

Also, could this be bad for me?

Thanks.

EXTRA DETAILS: My reactions to lactose aren't too bad. I get gassy... that's about it.

I don't drive and the local store is closing now so I can't get any pills :-(

It depends on HOW lactose intolerant you are. You will be diluting the Lactaid by quite a bit i.e. 1 pt of Lactaid mixed into 1 pint regular would be halved. Lactaid DOES sell tablets that you should be able to get at any grocery or drugstore.

I would want to wonder how much milk you drink, and if there are others in your home who drink milk too. I think the Lactaid milk is worth it (last longer too) but if you have 2 buy 2 different kinds of milk then...maybe not. What about Soy Milk. Tried that? If you can cut the milk out altogether and jump on the multivitamin then all the better. IMO, Taking lactaid pills everyday does nothing good to your body. It will process the lactose instead of your body trying to digest it. LIT is not a life sentence, necessarily. I guess you have to do what is best for you, and your lifestyle. :o)

You could, but you might end up with a bad belly ache. My daughter is lactose intolerant & I HAD to do that once and she ended up with a belly ache.

There are lactose drops you can put in regular milk that breaks down the lactose. The only down side to that is you have to wait 24 hours after you put the drops in to drink the milk.

If you are lactose intolerant you should NOT mix with regular milk...especially whole milk. Go to a different store if possible.

Kind of defeats the purpose don't you think?
It will probably make you sick like you drank whole milk.
