i have to do this recycling thing for a class i am taking. the object is to make something out of recyclable stuff without spending money! i was considering making a piggy bank out of a coke bottle, but i figured other students would do the same. so if you can, will you help me research an idea for this project or tell me something that you created using recycleable items?
thank you!

why not make something like a wind chime by using cartons tins etc that would be thrown away.

you could make it decorative if your into that kind of thing and you could say that it explores the theme that recyling should always be visible

How elaborate do you want to go?

if you want to wow-em and be the 'best of show'. Go with this idea.
If you can find an old shutter, a cardboard box that will cover the whole back of the shutter and (since you can't spend) some found paint and wood glue.

This will make a cd/dvd rack. All you have to do is glue the cardboard to the backside, paint it and carry it to school.

If that is diffcult to find, try this.
Two picture frames from a candy heart from valentines day!
I did that with my mom and dad's photo. It looked like they were kissing, so I placed it in one half of the heart and a found floral araingement in the other and hung them side by side.

Or even
Get a piece of rough bark or wood, place some found floral pieces, ( you can find these at a cemetary on trash day,) and make a centerpiece or wall hanging. You may need to have some 'found' glue or nails and a hammer.

or
If you have a broken mirror and 'found' glue. Glue the mirror pieces to any old class ashtray or ceramic plate. This would be a neat candle holder.

how about a flower vase out of a bottle? You know what? at my school, they took 10 2 liter coke bottles, filled them with sand, wrapped them in duct tape and painted them and used them as bowling pins in a homemade bowling game!! There's something original.
Or how about taking some salt water and flour and old newspapers and make a paper mache' sculpture?
