Theres a Master link that looks different than the rest. You'll need a chain break tool to remove the pin in that link. You can try and remove it with a nail and hammer if you can get the bike and chain in the proper position. Good luck.

Any DECENT bike shop will pop off the old POS chain and put on the new one for free. At worst, it shouldn't cost you $5 labor. Look at it this way: if you botch the install the chain may be ruined. I've been at it a long time, and unless you get a "master link" chain, your odds are 50/50. Keep in mind that the chain needs to be the RIGHT LENGTH. I won't bother typing the several thousand words it takes to describe how/what/why/where. Don't cheap out on the chain no matter what you do. Cheap chains just wear out faster. There is a diminishing return thing going on. At some point you are just paying to shave off a few grams. I've been riding and wrenching for 25 years and I think the overall answers prior to this get you on the right track if you do it yourself.

Just push the chain to the side and spin the wheel. The chain will get tight when you spin the wheel and then just roll right off
