I have read answers and asked questions and read even more answers which have invariably contradicted each other to the nth degree. But one word might hold the key. For those who believe in Him, I think that God may offer the hope that there may be some JUSTICE in the world - for you being good and the others being bad.
Agree or disagree?

Eduarodi - I agree, but I'm just trying to understand the attractions of religion.

Ramshi - ditto, but there's no accounting for extremists or disillusioned. Let's keep to 'regular' followers?

wgr88 - don't rant at me.

PLEASE!!! Try to not quote standard answers or rhetoric - I want you to try and understand and explain your attraction to religion, and whether 'justice' is a consideration.

But then how do you explain the killings of innocents, and children in particular, in Iraq, Palestine, Israel, World Trade Center, etc. Either God does not care or God stands for injustice or God does not even exist

This is an excellent point. Think about this. We are created by God's image, thus we reflect his qualities in a small amount since we are imperfect. We can tell something is just or unjust thanks to our Heavenly Father. Your mind tells you it is not fair to send a baby to hell. And you are right. Plus, God agrees with you. You see, a long time ago people invented the idea of a fiery hell. The Greek philosophers and the ancient pagan religions taught it. Look what God feels about tormenting people in hell forever: Jeremiah 7:31 - And they have built the high places of Topheth, which is in the valley of the son of Hinnom, in order to burn their sons and their daughters in the fire, a thing that I had not commanded and that had not come up into my heart. The Bible states clearly that after we die we cease to exist: Ecclesiastes 9:5, 6, 10 - For the living are conscious that they will die; but as for the dead, they are conscious of nothing at all, neither do they anymore have wages, because the remembrance of them has been forgotten. Also, their love and their hate and their jealousy have already perished, and they have no portion anymore to time indefinite in anything that has to be done under the sun... All that your hand finds to do, do with your very power, for there is no work nor devising nor knowledge nor wisdom in Sheol, the place to which you are going. Genesis 3:19 - In the sweat of your face you will eat bread until you return to the ground, for out of it you were taken. For dust you are and to dust you will return.

We don't always see God's justice in this lifetime.....so I disagree on the one hand. What about murderers and rapists that never got caught, or that served minimal jail time? Or corrupt judges or politicians? Payday isn't ALWAYS every Friday, you know.....On the other hand, God DOES equal justice even if we don't SEE it in this life time, because since He is righteous in His judgment, no one will escape His justice whether it be for an eternity with Him or an eternity in hell. After He's already provided a way of escaping hell's flames, He is not to be blamed if the individual rejects His free Gift!

Do some people believe that? I agree.

But I don't think anyone wants God to give them justice, because they'd end up in hell. Everyone's done bad in their lives--broken God's law--and the punishment for that is hell. Only by repentance and faith can you be saved from that punishment.

The true "God", the laws of nature and science, are absolutely real and just. The kind who was scrawled on rocks and parchment by human beings could never be just, because man creates a god like himself.

With God there is only Justice. It took Jesus for mercy, but still mercy cannot rob justice, so Jesus had to sweat blood and die on the cross to pay for our sins. Only then if we truly believe, repent, and follow his teachings will we be saved. with out Jesus we are sure to go to Hell.

I would like to think that God is a just God and it is why i do not follow organised religion ,,,in the world of the organised religous people God seems to allow everyone no matter what they have done to dwell in heaven for eternity or to burn in hell ..........
meaning if you have murdered ,molested ,done unspeakable things all you have to do is ask for forgiveness and bammmm your on the same side with all the truly decent people who have tried all their life to be good for something ...................
i frankly can not buy it ,,,,,thats why i feel that rightousness is indeed in the trying and that by our actions /deeds/thoughts we can indeed grow towards enlightment .
i think we overlook the fact that we have to be accountable for ourselves and can not simply KNOW we are all sinners and that we simply have to be saved /repent /forgiven ......i think by our sincerity and through our heart we work towards GOD and eventually choose to be a companion and that no soul shall perish but will indeed work THROUGH and be held accountable for their actions ...........karma ,,,reincarnation ....it just simply makes sense to me and has made me work harder at my own faults then any sort of hell/damnation theory ever could .
i do think there is JUSTICE there has to be ........................

I'd rather seek for justice in human courts of law.

EDIT: Oh, sorry, then. But I can't help you in that case. I do not feel that kind of attraction... :-)

There will be justice for believers and unbelievers in Christ. Each will get their due. One thing is certain...God is not a liar and vengeance is His.
