Rice is probably the cheapest food you can buy. A two dollar bag of rice will make you quite a few meals. As far as meat goes I think the cheapest meat you can get is ground turkey. When shopping around make a list of what you need to get, then make four columns, one for super walmart, one for the dollar store, one for the regular grocery store, and then another for some other store. Record the price of each item you find so that you can get the best deals.

In the United States, you really can't. $50 only goes so far...

Some ways to stretch your food budget:

Purchase good food, not junk. The junk food may be cheaper, but it's not nutritious, and in the long run, will cost you more.
Shop at cheap places, such as Walmart grocery.
Clip coupons and use them.
Check the Sunday paper for sales, and make a shopping list based on the sales.
Purchase meat that is discounted and ready to expire, and freeze it so it lasts longer. Take the meat out of the freezer right as you are ready to use it.
Shop at Costco's with a friend, and split all the purchases. A lot of bulk items are too much for one person, but if two people split everything, it's very affordable.
Shop at local farmer's markets for produce. You can get lots of good deals there.
Stick to a few menu items, and purchase the items for those meals in quantity as they go on sale.
Don't eat out; always take your lunch to work.
You can make some really tasty and inexpensive soups and stews from leftovers.
Don't let anything go to waste; find a way to use all your leftovers.
Buy the generic or "store name" brand whenever possible.
Stick to cheaper meats like chicken legs, and stay away from the expensive meats.

Hope this helps!

I don't know where you live but in my neck of the woods that would buy you a grocery bag of fruit.
I don't think you can eat a balanced healthy diet on 50 bucks a month. I guess that is why there are food banks and soup kitchens. I'm worried about you.

Sounds pretty hard. But would have hard boiled eggs. Also eat beans, all kinds, red, black, pink, blackeyed peas, with rice.
It doesn't have to be dull, fry some onion in a little oil then fry the beans. Also spaghetti with canned sauce is cheap.
If you are in Us maybe u could qualify for food stamps. Also peanut butter is good protein and a jar lasts a while. Good luck,

It would be tough, but buying rice in bulk is cheap, as well as potatoes. Buying big bags of dry beans is also cost effective. At Wal Mart you can buy a 5 pound bag of frozen brocolli for $5.

Ramen Noodles are cheap, and when I was a poor college student I lived off them.

Another inexpensive food is old fashioned oats. They come in the big jug in the cereal aisle.

I'd buy lots of frozen veggies and chicken and huge cans of stewed tomatoes. Make a huge batch of soup and freeze what you dont eat. When I ran out I would go begging to momma, or visit relatives and soup kitchens... Try fasting for once a week, too.

That's hard unless you're willing to cook.

Bulk whole grains, veggies & bulk frozen chicken or fish are your best bets. Skip $.25 frozen burritos and Cup of Noodles which are loaded with carbs, fat and trans fats.

MAKE STEW WITH LOTS OF VEGETABLES, THAT SHOULD LAST A FEW DAYS. A POT OF BEANS WILL ALSO HELP AND IT TOO IS GOOD FOR A FEW DAYS. SALADS
