Last week I saw a post on here where a woman was talking about hiring a private eye to investigate her daughters boyfriend. Somebody mentioned the link http://background-records.net/ as a good place to find info online. Well I checked out the site and was bored so I started entering names of people I know. That is when I discovered that my friends fiance was convicted of assualt in 2001. I am sure she doesn't know about this. I have to tell her because I fear for her safety but I don't know how to approach the subject without her hating me. We have been friends since the 3rd grade and this news is going to devestate her.

Any insight on how to handle this situation would be appreciated. Thank you.

This is complicated. First, are you certain that the individual you read about on the website is your friend's fiance, and not someone by the same name? Be certain to confirm that. As for her being devastated, well, she will certainly be devastated if he repeats the crime and assaults her. I am never in favor of giving information anonymously. If you are going to tell her, you must tell her to her face, and you may want to preface it with something like: "I have some upsetting information that I feel I have to share with you. I know that if I were in this situation, I would want to know." Then tell her, matter-of-factly and without drama. Don't try to tell her what to do about it; it's her decision. Then close by saying something like: "I feel very upset by this, too." Don't be surprised or take it personally if she is angry at you first. Just give her some space and time to absorb this blow. Good luck, and keep on being a caring friend.

Ok I just looked at this site and you have to pay $39.95 to access people's court records. If you were that obsessed with her man and other people to pay money, sounds like YOU have the problem.

I bet she'll be just as surprised to know you're running background checks on her man as she will to know his background.

THIS IS SPAM SPAM SPAM!!!!!!! SHe has asked this question promoting her business dozens of times. Stop wasting your time trying to help her, people, she's a fake. Report her for abuse instead, not to mention a creative writing award for her lame a$$ stories.

just watch her bf. if he doesn't seem like the type that would have done something like that, you should confront him. tell him you know what he did last summer, but you know hes changed. tell him he should tell her about it. they shouldn't hide anything from eachother if they are gonna get married. also i wouldn't trust that website, b/c i looked up my very own name, and it pulled me up, even though i have never done anything in my life that would file me criminal. im only fourteen!

good luck!

I think you should only if you feel she is in danger.

Otherwise zip it.
