I have an 8 year old and a possible 4 year old my 4 year also has attachment disorder Life with these children can be very challenging you have to constantly be on them about everything It can get so sressful you feel like pulling your hair out but there is hope my 8 year old takes concerta and it has helped tremendously I dont really like the idea of medicating my child but I have seen him on meds and off meds hes a much happier child on meds he gets good grades and can function close to a normal child I sympathize with you its tough but you are not alone If you dont like the idea of meds you can get through this but it will mean lots of structure routine and try behavior charts with stickers and a special reward each time a sticker is earned it does not have to be expensive it can be a piece of candy 10 minutes special time alone with you or maybe get to stay up ten minutes after bed time let your child help pick the rewards If all else fails there is also councling In my situation I use all these methods and it is helping. Your not crazy neither is your child and you are definitly not alone need to chat email me at dhufham717@yaho.com

My son was diagnosed with adhd at 5 yrs of age. He was on Ritalin for awhile, then was switched to adderall, then to strattera, which he is currently on. He's now 14, and has outgrown the hyperactivity part of it, now he just has the add. He also has mild depression and taking prozac for that. His pedi thinks he will eventually outgrow the add. His father and I hope so too! It was really hard to deal with at first, but now it's a piece of cake. :-)
