I would like to do something that adds some privacy, so you can't se in as easily from the street. There is nothing on the window now.

Besides shear curtains, you could use an adhesive backed window film that has a frosted or patterned design. See the source list for examples. I've seen similar window film products at Home Depot.

Try buying two small curtain round rods, install one on the top of the window and one on the bottom. Make a curtain with a pocket at the bottom and at the top. Insert rods and you have a nice curtain that stays in place.

Lace on curtain rods secured at both top and bottom. Or just tack it into the frame. Will let light in and is still private.

I bought a shear for the little tiny round curtain rods, but I also had to sew one out of some shear material. It was for the side of my door as well.

Have you tried a long gathered sheer or lace drape. These can be as full as you want them to be and allows for privacy while still allowing light.
