Not everyone is on the path to enlightenment. If you find that those around you are negative you have 3 choices, in my opinion:
1. Try to understand what belief in you creates this situation. Are you comfortable with your beliefs? Do you feel guilty for being off and on in your spiritual practice. Release your own negative emotions in this matter and you will no longer find it in your life.
2. Perhaps it is time to move. Just as we outgrow our clothes we can also outgrow our lifestyle. Maybe a move to another location would bring you around people who are more like you and help to bolster and nuture your beliefs rather than tear them down.
3. You can always ignore them. A distraction is only a distraction if you allow it to be. These people obviously know nothing about you or your spirituality and so their comments and opinions are truly meaningless. Let the words in one ear and out the other - or better yet, vote with your feet and just walk away from such a negative influence.
Peace!

Because you ARE a heretical Christian guilty of blasphemy.
It's not a bad thing if you don't believe in the religion. Blasphemy simply means that you don't revere what they call sacred. You left the religion, it was in insult to god according to them, and therefore you blaspheme. A heretic is a non-believer. Since you have left the religion, it shouldn't bother you because it's no longer an insult from your perspective.

It sounds crazy to me. I don't know why you follow Buddhism, but nothing you've said describes you as remotely a herectical Christian, maybe people consider your wife as apostate, but that would be it. Tell them I said to go fly a kite.

Hear no evil, and see no evil, abase not thyself, neither sigh nor weep. Speak no evil, that thou mayest not hear it spoken unto thee, and magnify not the faults of others that thine own faults may not appear great; and wish not the abasement of anyone, that thine own abasement be not exposed. Live then the days of thy life, that are less than a fleeting moment, with thy mind stainless, thy heart unsullied, thy thoughts pure, and thy nature sanctified, so that, free and content, thou mayest put away this mortal frame, and repair unto the mystic paradise and abide in the eternal kingdom for evermore

Maybe it's because of the sleezy questions you ask and they don't realize that you're still a heathen.

Because they see anger and pain everywhere. That happens a lot when "blind faith" gets into a person's eyes.
