I live beside Lakeside and I suggest IKEA. You can do almost anything and you get to feel it see it before you buy it. Argos for batteries and tat

personally inexpensive means Argos, ikea does do inexpensive but once I've seen the rest i want to drop the in. although it is possible to do the expensive with ikea if it's just a double your looking for, the doors are pricey. try Argos they do doubles and i think singles and they are cheap think they got one for less than a hundred and then they do suite furniture that you wont find in ikea, so in short if it's range that you're after go to Argos cause they don't do that in ikea. or just go to ikea for the experience. but consider buying from Argos. on the looks side, ikea looks great even their cheap ones and they have some trendyish items all at good low prices Argos on the other hand don't always look so hot, but i think they have gotten better quality items now, so good luck.

In my opinion i think Argos has a great choice of furniture, so has Ikea, but Argos has more, its very reasonable priced and after seeing the furniture my friend bought there, would say its pretty good quality.

Ikea. i've just bought bedroom furniture from there and it is solid, very easy to put together, nice deep drawers. good price. argos is rubbish. bought a wardrobe from there and it took ages to put up and then had to be supported by leaning against a set of drawers ,which were from ikea, or else it would of fallen over!!

Ikea - everything we have bought from Argos has fallen apart. Drawers and shelves are the worst - the flatpack instructions are poor and the drawers/shelves come away at the joins.
At least with Ikea, you know what you are getting. It may not last forever, but then you won't pay through the nose for it either.

Argos is generally overpriced and quality is poor. Ikea is a sound bet, but everyone else owns it. Still, good inexpensive choice!

What you're saying is that you need to balance the room. From what I gather, it's the wall opposite your bed that is waist high. The simple solution would be a bookcase/cabinet to give it some weight & add storage. On the high wall that's a problem, you may want to get a large piece of wall sculpture, or salvage an iron gate to hang there, perhaps with an arched top to compliment the arched window. There are small can lights you can put on the floor to direct light up & add beautiful shadow with the vaulted ceiling. Any plants will warm the space, as well as a large area rug.
