You would loose wieght really fast at first, but then you would gain weight. It wouldn't be long before your body would think it was starving, which in fact on 500 cal it would be, and would start storing every bit of fat you put into your body. It's better to stick to a 1500 cal diet eating HEALTHY foods. Try looking at a diabetic cookbook. If you want to lose weight fast, eat like a diabetic. That's the fastest way to do it. Plus do aerobic exercises, that's the one that burns the most calories.

My mother went on a 500 cal diet when she was young and the doctor threatened to force feed her because he said she was anorexic. You don't have to be starving yourself to be anorexic. 500 cal a day is not even enough cal to keep you moving.

This would be very unhealthy and dangerous even if you would be able to stick to it which you probably wouldn't be able to because our physical desire to eat is stronger than our will which is good because we could be dead. Any diet lower than 1200 calories would be too low and in medical centers where they give very low calorie diets you are under medical supervision. Your basal metabolic rate is around 1000-1200 per day. This means that it takes 1000-1200 calories to maintain your body functions such as heart beat, blood circulation, kidney function, brain function, all that and then after that calores are needed for
activities like walking, brushing your teeth, etc. anything you do.
If you want to lose weight fast, cut out starchy foods like bread, potatoes, rice, eat mostly vegetables, stir fry them in a little, oil and eat fruit every day. Don't sacrifice your health because it won't work anyway and you might get sick or get kidney failure.

My advice- don't. By cutting that far back on calories, you are setting yourself up for two things. One is the resultant "survival mode", in which your body trains itself to get by on very little and in turn will make you put weight back on very quickly. The second is that you might end up with psychological problems associated with food consumption, which could then lead to an eating disorder. I have heard that the safe lower limit is 1200 calories for women and 1500 for men. And of course, make sure you eat about 5-7 servings of fruits and veggies and get enough protein.

Not a good idea, your body needs more calories than that to function, find a site with a calorie counter that will give you the daily amount you should be eating based on your height and weight.

Just wanted to let you know- I just lost 20 lbs this month by cutting calories to 1,500- it was really easy. I ate 1/2 bowl of Cheerios with very little milk and coffee for breakfast, V8 for snack, homemade vegetable soup- not made with builiion- for lunch, and cut all dinner portions in 1/2- no eating for 3 hours before bed. It has worked great for me and I hope to lose my last 15 lbs before Christmas! Good luck!

Thats not very healthy, but my guess would be about 5lbs, before your system begins to hold onto fat when your brain goes into survival mode believing you are starving yourself.
