If it's a baby tooth, it's just the way they fall out.

If it's not a baby tooth, it doesn't have room in the arch. This is most common with lower premolars (bicuspids) and it is due to taking out a baby tooth too early instead of doing the children's version of root canal treatment. The tooth usually grows out towards your tongue. This needs to be evaluated by your dentist to see if it can be corrected or if it should just be removed.

If this tooth is deciduous(baby tooth) then thats how they shed but if this toooth is an adult tooth then you need to see your dentist as you will probably need to have an xray in order to get the correct diagnosis.

If you've lost another tooth nearby, teeth will shift to compensate for the gap.

Dr Sam was right, You should be seeing your dentist. You might also have a super-numery (that is an extra) tooth on it's way which can be checked by xray.
