If you know it, type the name of the institution the inmate is incarcerated, and the city and state in a search engine, such as Google. You should get a website where you can find out how to get info on an inmate.

Varies by state.

Some states, via their public safety or DoCorrections website, will provide info on currently incarcerated inmates. Some states will only provide info after the inmate has been released.

The feds have a National Institute of Corrections website which contains links to all states. Try it.
