The color of your hair has nothing whatsoever to do with whether or not you will lose your hair when you get older. Your mother evidently has a condition called alopecia, which is characterized by losing patches of hair that create bald spots. It is treatable. That doesn't necessarily mean that you will have the same thing, so you don't need to worry about it. Alopecia is not hereditary, and is usually caused by stress, illness, medications or wearing the hair in a tight, pulled-back style.
