stop giving him all kinds of stuff. If you give him options he will get picky. You are actually turning your dog into a fussy eater. Decide what you want him to eat and leave it down. No healthy young dog is going to starve itself to death with a full bowl of food down for it. At 8 months old, I would be very worried if he was not hyperactive.
Get a bag of puppy complete food, put a bowl down on the floor and ignore it. Make sure there is a bowl of water available all the time. Stop obsessing about his eating unless you are happy having a fussy eater.
If you feed the complete stuff ad-lib this is the best way. The dog will pick and nibble at it through the day which is fine as he never overloads his stomach and never regards food as something valuable and worth guarding leading to biting when you go near his food bowl. I have 7 dogs, do rescue and fostering and have always fed ad-lib. All of the dogs here are fit and healthy, even picky fussy eaters which come in , eat the dried stuff like my own dogs when they realise there are no other options being offered to them.
NEVER EVER MIX AN OXO CUBE WITH IT!!!!!! It is practically pure salt and can badly damage his kidneys.
His teeth will be fine. At 8 months he will have long cast his puppy oones and will now have adult teeth.

I am laughing so hard. He really has you snowed doesnt he? He wont starve trust me. This is a power struggle and you are losing. Leave the dry dog food out and he will eat it eventually even if it takes a few days..dogs arent stupid. If you died tomorrow and he had to go live somewhere else he would eat the dry dog food trust me. He just prefers the wet....most of them do. So you have a choice...rule him or he will rule you.

We just got a Yorkie and have this same problem. We've tried pouring warm water over the dry so it wouldn't be hard to chew and he wouldn't eat that. I talked with the vet about it, and she mentioned baby food -- chicken or beef, or even regular food that consists of chicken or rice. You can also try cat food and see if he likes that. If he likes that then you can put a few pieces of dry food in day by day until he gets used to eating that. And if he still won't eat you might want to get him checked for worms or Coccidia, cause maybe it's making his belly hurt and that's why he's not eating.

My puppy is also very fussy with what she eats and like you I prefer the dried food. If soaking it, so it is softer to eat doesnt work then I suggest trying different makes of food.
I have tried about four types of food for my pup and she adores Bakers. It has meaty pieces in it that she loves and if it is soaked she gobbles it up.
it is all about trial and error-good luck in finding what she likes.

Well, most would say if you let him get hungry enough he would eat it but I don't agree.. I would not want to eat something that smells like crap.. I raise Chihuahuas and have tried so many of the foods out there.. My favorite and it was told to me by the actions of my Chi's is "Royal Canine..". Yes, Royal Canine is an expensive food but the first time I put it down for my dogs they went nuts over it.. It even smells good to me too. They have that brand at most pet stores. For a 35 lb bag I pay 37.00 for it but it is worth it..
Also , if it is good food your dog will need less and poop less so that needs to be looked at too.

Try warm water soak. Make it soft at first and slowly reduce the time of soak over a couple of weeks. What ever you do don't change his food brand or feed him any table food! When he does eat all of his food reward him with a small tastey dog treat. All of my dogs love Iam's puppy bones. Try that. Good Luck.

aaaaaaaaw, I love cav king char spans. Check his teeth, he is at the age where his baby teeth should be falling out, and his adult teeth should be coming in. Check and be sure he is not in pain while eating his kibble! Also, you may want to consider buying a small-breed version of his food....smaller kibbles are sometimes much easier to eat! *cheers*
