Remember, at 3 years old, they don't need a huge pile of gifts. I think one or two of those larger Tonka trucks/tractors would be liked. Also, the large size Legos - teaches them to be creative! An age-appropriate Leap Frog Learning toy would be great, too. Have a wonderful Christmas with your son. My sons are all grown up with their own children now and I miss them so much. Christmas is not quite the same without my little boys' excitement!! Enjoy every moment!!

my son's going to be 3 in less than 3 weeks. Here's what I got him for his birthday and the holiday (I shop all at once for him)
Shh... don't tell him.
- Every wooden Jay Jay the Jet Plane character I can find. I just want to say this isn't easy since they just came back out with all of them. I'm still missing 2, hopefully he won't notice.
- Cars the movie and a couple of the toy cars
- A whole bunch of Thomas the Tank Engine die cast trains since he likes to bring his trains with him and I don't want him to lose his wooden ones
- About 4 Thomas the Tank Engine DVD's
- 2 disney sticker books
- Books: a book of Blue's Clue's stories, Sylvester and the Magic Pebble, Shrek, & a Richard Scary book
- He's also getting a scooter from my sister as well as more Thomas trains
- Lastly, if I can get the rest of my family to get him gift certificates for the holidays, I want to get him an electric ride on toy
I hope this gives you some ideas

Something big. For some reason big toys don't seem to get thrown into the toybox as easily. Nothing too high-tech either. I really think all these high-tech toys that light up and make noise and talk to you and plug into the tv and all that crap are useless. Get him a tricycle or some other sort of ride-on toy. Maybe a playhouse for the backyard or tent he could hide in. Little boys love things like that :-)

What has he shown interest in? My three year old loves Bob the Builder, Thomas the tank engine and Elmo. Mostly anything in the categories would make him ecstatic. Oh also action figures and hot wheel cars. mommyblues
