Diet soda, regular soda, its all the same, just different sweeteners. When drank in moderation, you can drink either and be fine. When I say moderation, I mean 1-2 8oz a week. Not a can or more a day. Too much of anything can be bad for you.

All soda isn't the greatest thing for you friend. Did you know that it takes three 8 ounce glasses of water to make up for the dehydration caused by one can of soda? That changed the way I personally looked at soda. It's no bueno. As far as the diet soda goes, some would say that it is actully worse for you because of the artificial sweetners used to take the place of sugar in it. Most all artificial sweetners have known side effects which can be harmful when ingested. I say go to the sink, and get a glass of water! You will thank yourself for the healthier skin, hair and nails in the long run.

Both diet and non diet are bad for you. But if you just have to have one, do not drink diet. Diet sodas use artificial sweeteners. These sweeters turn into famaldihide. You know they stuff they EMBALM you with. It has a tendency to cause cancer. If you can't give up sodas, just drink the standard kind, they have more sugar, but they are better for you.

I've read that diet sodas actually make you retain water and feel hungry. If you have to have soda, do it in moderation. But, don't drink the diet sodas because you're just putting weird chemicals into your body. Someone in our family drank diet drinks exclusively and died from brain cancer. I can't help but feel that the chemicals caused her illness. I, personally, cannot drink diet sodas because they make me sick. Hope this helps somewhat!

It can be if you drink a lot of it specially as most contain caffeine plus some of the sweeteners added instead of sugar can do damage to your insides.
Drop a bronze or copper coin in a glass of diet coke then leave it in there for a day and look at the difference it's very worrying

It is bad for your teeth if you sip on one or more throughout the day, however if you drink a pop, it is not so terrible, especialy compared to sugar gum. Just don't have a continual drenching of any pop on your teeth all day long.
I hear it contains famaldihide or turns into it somewhere down the line...cool, pre-mature embalming.

There's a lot of evidence against artificial sweeteners. The bottom line is which worse -- developing diabetes due to obesity or taking a chance on aspartame and it's cousins?

This is a good question. I don't have an answer. I just had to comment on how most of the answers refer to "pop" and not "soda". The answerer's must be from the mid-west.

It is not harmful as far as drinking, but it has been linked to teeth rotting and it could lead to very bad teeth. This is the same for both diet and non diet.
