Nova Scotia is a nice place to live - I've lived here all my life. It is very scenic and the pace of life is very laidback compared to many other parts of Canada and the world, for that matter. However, as with every place, it has its drawbacks. It is a "have not" province - meaning that we don't have as much to offer in terms of health care, for example - longer wait times for tests, etc. Fewer transportation options (no subways or commuter trains; suburbs of the capital city don't have direct bus access). Education levels are good, we have a very high ratio of universities for the population - but some of the highest tuition fees in the country! It's a good place to live if you have a good job and are willing to put up with a lower salary than other parts of Canada. With a good job your lifestyle can be pretty good here just as anywhere else, and less stressful, so maybe that's a good enough tradeoff for less $$. Someone else mentioned the weather. Summers are usually nice, fall/autumn is probably the best season. Winters vary - always be prepared for snow turning to rain and so plenty of ice. Springs also vary. As someone who can afford it - when I retire I will spend 6 months here, 6 months elsewhere!

I've always loved Parrsboro-it is very beautiful in the surrounding area, has great history, lots of hiking trails, and awesome theatre! It's also pretty out of the way, which some people go for.

Halifax, for sure. A lot goes on here.

Though the Annapolis Valley is nice, too.

Halifax I guess. I am pretty sure that it's the biggest city there.
