My son says its more cool to wear boxers, but his father and brother both wear Hanes white briefs. Boxers are a lot more expensive--I don't want him to feel uncomfortable--what should i do?

my son prefers boxers too. yes they are a little more expensive, but they last a long time too, as long as he doesnt grow much.. lol
I let my son wear boxers, though i told him he may regret that when he gets old as boxers do not provide support like regular underwear does. my son says he likes to "hang low" lol
I would let him... or at least give him a couple of pair to alternate with... then he will still feel "cool" and still get support... though that trick did not work with my son... he just prefers the boxers and refuses to wear the other...

You mention the cost - so let him earn them by doing extra chores. Calculate the difference between the briefs and boxers and have him rake leaves or clean bathrooms to earn the difference. My son wanted boxers because they were cool and this was my solution. He gladly did the extra work and I felt better buying the boxers because he earned them. Plus my other kids are more helpful now they see that it is a good negotiating tool;).
Good Luck!

Let him wear boxers, but make him wash them so you don't have too buy too many, if that helps, or stuff them in the stocking if you celebrate Christmas.

Or give him a job to earn the extra money.

Why shouldn't he wear boxers?

But, PS, start with only one pair. Both my sons wanted boxers, and I bought several packs only to find one couldn't stand the feeling of 'no support'.

Give the boy his boxers. Just because dad and brother wear tidey whitey's doesn't mean he has too. You know how the kids are now with the boxers showing out above the jeans, that may be why he wants to have the boxers. It could also be that he wants to show his independence, let him try it out mom! =)

My youngest son prefers boxers to briefs. My hubby wears boxers, but my oldest son likes boxer briefs. Yes, let him wear what he prefers. It's just underwear.

Our son is 11. My husband wears briefs & our son has worn boxer briefs since he was 5. Everyone has their own style. You don't wear the same kind of bra that your mom wore do you? Let him have his own style. After all he is the one that has to wear them, not you or your husband.

Boxers are what majority of boys where now-a-days of all ages..Let him pick what he wants to wear! You wouldn't want him to get teased at school and come home crying everyday instead..You can get packs of 3-4 at Sears, Jc Penny and all kinds of stores like that for around $10 and they dont just last for a week :)

My seven year old son has briefs, boxer briefs, and boxers in his drawer. I figure he'll pick what he likes or wear what is clean. Nothing wrong with selection.

Unless it is a very serious financial consideration, let him wear boxers. Not a big deal. Some girls like bikini, some like briefs.....it is no different.
