because there were several factors that led up to the war.
Russia was involved, then Austro-Hungary, then Germany declared war on Austro-Hungary and then France declared war for no reason. The Germans bombed Brussels, Belguim and that brought Britain into the picture.

Feller named Princip shot and killed Archduke Ferdinand in Sarajevo. This is what is commonly ascribed as the event that started WWI. One Freedom Fighter, Terrorist, (depending on whoes story you want to belive) one bullet.
All of the countries that participated in the war had been building up and arming en masse. The war was almost bound to happen, but that was the spark that set it off.
