You are already WAY to thin. At 5'6' you are supposed to be 115 to be healthy. That's just WHOA! A normal diet is 1500 to 2500 calories a day depending on your physical activity. A person with diabetes is supposed to eat 1500. I would suggest if you want to be HEALTHY eat like a diabetic would. 1500 a day would not be enough for you to just gain more than you need to have, especially if you eat the healthy foods that a diabetic would be eating. This kind of diet would keep you at the weight you are supposed to be at to be healthy.
500 a day wouldn't keep you alive long, and you wouldn't have enough energy. You don't have to be completely starving to be considered Anorexic. My mother did that 500 cal a day diet when she was young, and the doctor threatened to force feed her because she was considered anorexic.
Please do yourself a favor and eat properly. Even if you feel like you have to diet, eat a healthy diet lined out by dietitions. You can't get fat that way, and you would be your healthy weight.

Well I have a 3 year old son who eats several times more calories than that in a day and he's not fat. So yeah, that's ridiculously low to the point that you will start losing hair, bone density, screw up your hormonal balance, if you're under 18 you'll stunt your growth, and so forth. Additionally there's the obvious that your body will "eat" it's own muscle so that when you actually start eating a normal diet you won't be able to metabolize calories like a normal person.
The truth is that most guys really aren't attracted to girls with a waif model look in case your wondering. You have to realize it's not average Joes who are selecting the pics that go in Vogue. If you notice there are many celebrities who have made a career off NOT being ultra thin, simply because that's the girls that real men (and probably homosexual women) actually fantasize about, women like Carmen Electra, Jennifer Lopez, Trish Stratus, etc. Anna Nicole Smith is still a celebrity based on the fact that she did a photo shoot while she weighed 150 pounds or so and men reading Playboy were so sick of seeing bony women that they went nuts for her.
My experience, both personal and from what I've seen anecdotally, is that it takes consistent EATING to keep a metabolism revved up. I'm a 6'2 male, 30 years old, and weigh about 190 pounds with a small waist and I eat up to 10 times a day and usually at least 5. The 3 year old son I mention is the same way, he eats small meals non-stop.

No it's not good to eat 500 calories a day.
Are you sure you're only 85 pounds? You look heavier in your picture. Nicole Richie is 85 pounds and she's shorter and no way do you look as thin as her. You look more like 105 pounds at 5'6.
EDIT: Why would we need to look at your picture to tell you whether or not 500 calories a day is sufficient for someone who is your supposed height and weight?

You are 85 pounds and 5'6"??!! Hell no its not OK. You are going to end up in the hospital for malnutrition and anorexia. A normal young womans body needs over 1200 calories a day just to stay healthy, and it is actually recommended to consume 1500-2000 a day. You shouldn't starve yourself, but use exercise to maintain a HEALTHY weight. 85 pounds IS NOT healthy! Don't believe me? Go see a doctor, or a nutritionist. NOW!! You are killing yourself, girl.

No, you are below your ideal body mass index, you are too thin. This could lead to serious health problems. Your BMI is 13.7 and less than 18.5 is considered underweight. You can calculate your calorie needs ........Basal Metabolic Rate Body weight multiplied by 12 (for men) or 11 (for women) e.g., 160 lbs. x 12 = 1920
B Activity One third body weight multiplied by the number of hours you don't sleep, typically 16 hours 160 lbs. x 1/3 = 53 x 16 = 848
D Required Calories A + B 1920 + 848 = 2768

I don't mean this as a diagnosis. 500 calories is usually too low for anyone. If you're 5'6 and only 85 lbs., you COULD HAVE a MAJOR problem. Please get to a doc PRONTO.

only if your day consists of four hour intervals.
500 cals a day (24) would not sustain a toddler.
you need to pick up another hobby other than the art of starving
to death.

No, not at all, that's too little, that's bad for you. You gotta eat more especially since you're already too thin.
