First of all, let me make it clear that I am not looking to train my dog to attack random people. I'm a homeowner, and quite frankly, don't want to get sued. However, I do live in a *very* remote area off the interstate in southwest Florida. We have a lot of homeless people that wander down here and take up residence in the woods near our homes, most of whom are sexual predators.

Anyways, I have a female German Shepherd that is 7 months old. She has an average prey drive, and I'd like to get her to attack on command. I've already had her trained to secure the property (she runs around the yard sounding an alert bark). I just need to know if there are any trainers out there that could point me in the right direction. Thanks!

I would not try to train your dog yourself, you will end up with a mean dangerous dog. There are people you can pay to train the puppy right but it is very expensive. From what it sounds like you dont have a lot of extra cash or you most likely would live in a better place. So another option is contacting your local P.D. and ask for the K-9 untit, then find out where you can adopt their retired police dogs. They are already trained but because of various reasons cant work anymore

I agree to have a professional trainer help. Although I did for my great dane, it is still YOUR responsibility to be consistent with training. Before you decide to do this be absolutely sure you are committed to the TIME this will take up. It is very time consuming to not only teach the dog, but "keep it up". ALSO, be absolutely sure that you have no doubts about your dog obeying simple obedience commands. If your dog doesn't know "out" or "drop it" yet, I recommend you teach the dog this command before going into personal protection. When she has her toy in her mouth she needs to drop it as soon as you give her the command. only then should you consider personal training

There are dog trainers that specialize in training dogs for protection.

www.vonasgard.com - Von Asgard trains dogs in Florida (near Tampa) at a dog "boot camp" specifically for personal protection.

www.metrodadek9.com - Metro-Dade Canine -much closer in Miami - trains police dogs. So even if they won't train your dog, they can probably tell you a place near you that can train your dog for personal protection.

I believe if you treat your dog right then you will not need a command to get her to attack, if someone is hurting you she should protect you without a command....

I know this friend of mine.. not me of course.. but a friend of mine... who trained his dog to attack when you say "George W". I .. I mean he.. when he would play with the dog... he'd get the dog all worked up and when the dog would growl and rip the toy to shreads., he'd say "George W" and give the dog lots of praise. And then he'd give another command for leaving it be. I don't want to tell you the command because then you could come to my .. i mean his house and rob him blind. :)

As far as personal protection.. I'd highly suggest a trainer. I don't think you should do it yourself. I .. my friend did that thing with his dog for fun and show.. not to kill though. :) Well .. not yet anyway.

it is hard to get them to attack. What you need to do is buy it a present that it wil like. MAke sure they get almost over obbsessed with it. THen if you want it to attack you should tell her that the person stole the item. You should try training with stuffed animal for practice.
