kind of like...having your deepest dreams come true or having to go a completely different way...

Nothing has happened like I had thought it would happen, further proving that what I thought I wanted and needed wasn't really what I needed.

Example: in my dreams I would graduate, become a famous journalist, marry the man of my dreams, and move to NYC.

What really happened: I graduated from college in 3.5 years after having a baby, being hospitalized, transferring schools, planning a wedding oh and losing three family members. I married a man who is BEYOND the man of my dreams, I don't live in NYC, and I'm not a journalist. I'm a full time mom.

But you know what? I'm not upset. Things are working out just as they are supposed to.

In some ways, yes, in some ways, no. The big specific things I wanted never worked out, I ended up being pushed in a whole different direction - one that isn't BAD per se, but just not the really kewl one I wanted. The little specific things I wanted I tended to get, but they never turned out the way I hoped or thought I would... always disillusionment... but the overall general FEELING of how I wanted things - the general feeling I wanted to feel out of life - that's come true. I always wonder why things can't just simply work out exactly the way we saw them. It seems like whoever God is, he's perverse, and he wants to force us to take nasty bad medicine then thank him for it and say "it is good". Nothing works out the way I want it to. Nothing ever will.

Most of what makes life worth living is not what happens to you, but how you react to it. Sometimes, things happen in our life that are unexpected - both good and bad - but each of those events will change you.

I think it's good to dream, but if those dreams don't come true, how will you react? Will you give up? Will you take the easy road? Will you find a better dream?

Life is truly what you make of it.

Not exactly, my son was murdered when he was 20, I got burned at work & had 35% 3rd degree burns, been married 3 times, divorced twice, my step kids are using, disrespectful, etc.
I really didn't have much of a vision when I was young but I didn't expect all this. My 17 year old son & my wife is the only bright spot of my life.

I wanted to do the proverbial `Join the navy and see the world' thing, but I failed the medical - the eye test; I have seen a good deal of the world, but I paid the expenses myself. Still, I never learned how to coil lines (ropes), swab decks or look out through a porthole. :-)

I think we all have room for improvement, and sometimes we want our lives to be so good but the things we have to do to make it that good are nearly impossible. But, as for me, I'm only 21 and my life is just getting started. I have a LOT of improvements to make. All I (and anyone else) can do is pray for guidance and direction to make my life better.

It's better than I envisioned in some ways, and it is worse than I envisioned in some ways.

I don't know. I'm not finished yet. I'll let you know when I get there.

Just kidding. Very differently.
