No, it only proves devotion to a level that suggests insanity.

No. There are lots of important and not so important people killed in the name of faith. If all it took was martyrdom it would be easy to rig. There have been many cults and groups that have tried martydom and still failed. A successful religion, based upon a successful martyr must combine both the passion of religious fervor and the common sense of a large group of people to be embraced and grow as a presence.
Hundreds of almost every religions have been killed for standing up for their beliefs - and hundreds of patriots too. A religion, a prophet, has something more.
Peace!

I wouldn't base a decision like that on whether or not a person died for their religion, I am sure there have been many of different faiths stand up for their religion, not just Mormons - I would pray to my Heavenly Father, ask in the name of Jesus Christ, if he is. You will receive an answer if you are sincere in asking.
I know he is a prophet of the Lord. This is a hymn written about him and I know every word of it is true.
Praise to the Man
Praise to the man who commun'd with Jehovah
Jesus anointed "that Prophet and Seer,"
Blessed to open the last dispensation;
Kings shall extol him, and nations revere.
CHORUS—
Hail to the Prophet, ascended to heaven,
Traitors and tyrants no fight him in vain,
Mingling with Gods, he can plan for his brethren,
Death cannot conquer the hero again.
Praise to his mem'ry, he died as a martyr;
Honor'd and blest be his ever great name;
Long shall his blood, which was shed by assassins,
Plead unto heaven, while the earth lauds his fame
CHORUS—Hail to the Prophet, &c.
Great is his glory, and endless his priesthood,
Ever and ever the keys he will hold;
Faithful and true he will enter his kingdom,
Crown'd in the midst of the prophets of old.
CHORUS—Hail to the Prophet, &c.
Sacrifice brings forth the blessings of heaven;
Earth must atone for the blood of that man!
Wake up the world for the conflict of justice,
Millions shall know "brother Joseph" again.
CHORUS—Hail to the Prophet, &c.

No, martyrdom does not prove truth, and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints does not suggest that it does, either. Instead, they teach that you are to gain a testimony of the truth through prayer. It is interesting to note, however, the last journal entry of Joseph Smith, dated June 22, 1844:
"I told Stephen Markham that if I and Hyrum were ever taken again we should be massacred, or I was not a prophet of God."
Five days later both Hyrum and Joseph were taken and killed.

no only rasoolilah Muhammed is the last prophet from the world. there was many before him. in all times there was many prophets but i think a couple of ulul asb, which is the chosen like Moses, and jesus, and Noah, and Abraham, and Muhammed. So he is the last prophet and not any others. there are only prophets that Islam says. dying a martyr only for Islam, and when it is needed is the truth. Thanks to you.

No. Martyrdom proves that people were convinced of the cause they died for. But not necessarily that they WERE right indeed. Otherwise, what happens when there are martyrs on both sides?

No. How about all the Branch Dividians or all the people who killed themselves to join all the people behind that Comet with their leader Doe. Get real == people are all the time deceived.

In the case of the men who actually knew Jesus Christ, yes.
Only a fool would go to his death for something he knew was a lie.
The Mormons didn't exactly go willingly to any slaughter, like the early Christians did.
