She's aging. It's not a big deal.

Dogs have (among many other genes for coat color) a gene that says if they turn gray (or in this case white). Your dog simply has the dominate gene that says she will turn gray (white). I have a black chi that is 5 years old and so much white hair has come in recently on her muzzle (and stray white hairs through her body). It's sad to me to look at her white hair as she used to be pitch black but it's nothing to worry about. There isn't anything physically wrong with the dog.

Most black dogs will start getting white hairs around 4-5 years old, at least that is my experience. It is normal.

Aging shows in dogs by their fur getting gray. In your dogs case, it shows up white. Don't worry about it if the vet said she was OK.

i agree with everone else, she is fine, relax, take a deep breath nothing is wrong.
If your still worried then go and get a second opion from another vet or just call a few vet's office's and ask them over the phone, they should answer a simple question like that with out bringing her in.

She's turning gray. Remember, she's 49 in dog years. Humans turn gray then too.
