What do you think about the parents on here who have a picture of their kid(s) instead of an avatar?

To the first answerer: I'm just asking whether you think it's a good idea for people to post pictures of their children on the internet for the world to see.

Paula: When did I ever say I had a problem with it? I think it's perfectly fine! I just wanted to see what other's had to say about it. Maybe you should get a life other than yelling at people.

I love showing off photos of my son. I do tend to keep it to more private avatars like my messenger.

I always ensure that my identity is protected on the internet, so there is little risk in putting up a picture. After all, I find it highly unlikely that someone is going to hunt down my little boy based soley on a picture with no other information.

In other words, I think it's totally fine. As with everything, just take precautions. And I agree with one of the other answers, I've seen parents do much dumber things such as putting their kids names on their backpacks or leaving them unattended at the park or even at the mall.

I had a pic of son on here for awhile...I don't see the harm...It's not like a go around telling everyone who I am, where I live...people can't even email me. I just changed it today... I couldn't get the picture of my pitbull with a birthday hat on to load, so I created my avatar.

I am okay with it and I just got to say it is pathetic how many people posted assuming you had a problem with it.

People learn to freaking read, the person who asked the question asked what you think of it, never did he or she say they had a problem with it.

I think it is a risk not worth taking..what if you answered enough questions or asked enough that could be put together to find out who you are or where you live? With pedophiles searching the Internet for victims why do this?

It's not something I'm inclined to do. However, it's a lot better than pasting your child's name all over their back pack and other belongings for strangers to see. That's just invite for trouble.

I also would advise against public birth announcements and putting up "it's a boy!" or "it's a girl!" announcements all over your home.

I like to see photos for Avatars, no harm in showing one of your kids , unless you are worried about being identified I.R.L.
What is it you're thinking?

I wouldn't put a pic of my son on here ever-you never know what crazy people are on here.

I wouldn't do it. I'm too paranoid about being tracked down or something. You never know with all the sickos in the world.

But to each their own.

I think it is fine, it doesn't bother me in the least, if it bothers you then just don't look or spend your free time doing something else. no matter what people do their is always someone out there who complains about it. Sorry you disapprove but my advice is to GET OVER IT!!
