A very high percentage of the homeless population are those that suffer from mental illness, another high percentage is women and children who have been overcome by situational poverty. And men who have been over come by situational poverty. God bless. Do some research and you will find a vast amount of information on the subject.

Try people that are just sick & alone? You don't have to be mentally ill to have cancer or other debilitating diseases. Sure having cancer on TV depicts people with insurance coverage & doctors for husbands (like why I wore red lipstick) but what about someone that is single or the elderly?
Sure "they" say there are free programs & help out there but try to qualify. Try walking into a hospital and telling them you have no money, no insurance, and cancer. They will treat you like a stray unwanted cat.
Another thought...dogs. I have a dog and live in the city. Ever read ads that say "fenced yard" no children, no pets?
Abused children & a parent. The shelters are full unless you show up with broken bones, bleeding...then of course you need a hospital.
Believe it or not but mentally ill people & the ones that pretend to be ? get social security a lot easier than others. But food, electricity, rent still have to be paid for

Veterans and the Mentally ill and winos, drug addicts. But their are people that were at one time well to do and had bad luck and lost everything and this caused severe depression and they started to drink and ended up with nothing.
